Emmy Bezzina, who contested the election under the banner of Alpha Liberal Democratic Party, said the ultimate message of the absolute majority of the electorate was specific and categorical: Change.

Dr Bezzina said it is obvious the new government will be running the country without the mandate of an absolute majority. "Indeed, the absolute majority has decreed it does not want this current Administration to govern," he said.

Dr Bezzina said he has no doubt that the Prime Minister will envisage this fundamental concept in perspective when setting out to form the Cabinet. Elected representatives who have shown disregard to the overall welfare of the country must never be selected to form part of the ministerial team, he added.

Likewise, the new leadership of the Malta Labour Party will bear this stark reality before it.

Consultations must take place with the smaller parties and the independent candidates who had the guts against all odds to contest the elections among a reddish-blue manipulated electorate, he said.
