All the 75 Volvo cars used in two recent summits were auctioned, raising €400,200 towards the Malta Community Chest Fund.
The cars were used to transport dignitaries during the EU-Africa Summit on Migration and CHOGM.
The starting sale price of 20 Volvo S60 saloon cars was €30,500; €11,500 below the normal selling price. The SUV XC60 had a starting price of €32,500, instead of the normal €44,000 sale price.
Those auctioning for the cars were informed which leader rode in them before making their bid.
The starting price total will go to car importers Gasan Zammit, which signed a sponsorship agreement with the government.
The same system was used following the 2005 Malta CHOGM when BMW cars were employed.
