I think and hope that the people living on this planet know the Church’s stand on divorce. It has been “hot news” since King Henry VIII wanted to get rid of his wives. I cannot see why anybody would want to involve the Church in such a debate.

We all know what the teachings of the Church are and I feel it would be wrong to involve the Church in further discussions. Carry on with your debate by all means, but for heaven’s sake leave the Church out of it. The priests who are currently expressing themselves are doing this out of fervour.

Have no fear, dear priests, genuine citizens know exactly what the teachings of the Church were, are and will be regarding the pitiful question of divorce.

Carry on debating, pass the divorce Bill, but leave the Church out of it – she has spoken quite clearly on the subject over the centuries.
