Stand-in goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri stopped a crucial last-gasp penalty to secure premier league survival for Qormi and condemn Vittoriosa Stars to the drop after a dramatic match at the Hibernians Stadium.

The match finished 2-2 but Vittoriosa had looked set for another remarkable escape after securing a two-goal cushion (Jorge Santos Silva 59, Anthony Ewurum 60) before being swept away by a rampant Qormi in the last nine minutes.

Qormi’s goals came from Jouze Souza Santos (81) and a Joseph Farrugia penalty (86).

Edison had one last chance to save the day for the Stars when Jorge Santos won a stoppage-time penalty only to see substitute Camilleri keep out his spot-kick as Vittoriosa’s hopes of survival were finally extinguished.
