Transport Minister Joe Mizzi pledged today that the paving of St Lawrence Street in Vittoriosa will be completed in 100 working days.

The works were meant to start in 2005 but never did, he said. The new Labour Government had realised paving material was ready to be used at the Works Department.  Works would start on April 15 and be completed in 100 days
Further delays will not be tolerated, he said.

Speaking about Parliament, Mr Mizzi ruled out the option of retaining it at the Palace in Valletta and not moving into the new building being built adjacent to City Gate. However, he said, a solution to the lack of office space had to be found and someone should be held accountable for lack of planning.

Asked if the current Parliament had sufficient office space he said it was useless to complain. The important thing was making sure the new expensive building was suitable for Parliament's needs.
