'Visit Malta', a promotional initiative in Cyprus, has been organised by Emirates Airline and the Malta Tourism Authority and supported by the municipalities of Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca.

Emirates, MTA and the municipality of Nicosia set up a photographic exhibition consisting of 25 photos by Clive Vella at the Nicosia Information Centre in Ledra Street which forms part of the city's pedestrian zone. The mayor of Nicosia, Eleni Mavrou, inaugurated the exhibition together with Emirates manager for Malta and Cyprus Paul Fleri Soler and the MTA history and culture Segment head Dominic Micallef.

The Soċjetà Filarmonika Pinto Banda San Sebastjan from Qormi played marches in Nicosia's main streets before and after the opening of the exhibition. Maltese specialities purposely prepared by Maypole Bakery together Maltese wine, beer and Kinnie were served during the event.

Earlier on, Hilton Malta and Hilton Nicosia organised a reception/presentation at the Nicosia Hilton were Maltese specialities were served. Hilton Malta is offering a special weekend package for Cypriot tourists who want to visit Malta.

The St Sebastian band played band marches near the medieval Limassol Castle and along the Limassol promenade. A concert by the Maltese band together with the Limassol municipality band was held in front of the Catholic church in Limassol. Speeches were delivered by the mayor of Limassol Andreas Christou and by Mr Fleri Soler and Mr Micallef.

The following day, the band travelled to Larnaca where it was one of the main features at the Kataklismos Fair playing festive band marches and giving a one hour concert along Larnaca promenade.

Cypriots can easily travel to Malta on an Emirates daily flight from Larnaca.
