Since March last year there have been 55 applications for Schengen visas from citizens of North Korea, National Security Minister Carmelo Abela said in Parliament.

All but two of the applications were approved through the Maltese embassy in Beijing.

Mr Abela was replying to a parliamentary question by Opposition MP Jason Azzopardi.
