Virtu Ferries is tonight expected to deploy two catamarans on evacuation trips from Tripoli on charter by foreign embassies, informed sources said.

The company confirmed this morning that it had received requests for charter by companies and other entities.

The catamarans can carry a total of some 1,000 passengers.

Managing director Henri Saliba told timesofmalta.com that although the company had not yet confirmed any trips, it was receiving requests and had contacted the Libyan Embassy in Malta asking for assistance and clearance.
