A man who last month pleaded guilty to making a bomb threat on the Catamaran Jean de La Valette, before it left Pozzallo on January 26 has been sent a legal letter by the company giving him a week to pay for damages.

Aaron Sant, 28, of Mqabba, had pleaded guilty to making the bomb threat so as to delay the ship so that his brother, who was late, would not miss it.

He admitted to the charges in court and was given a six month jail term suspended for a year.

Virtu Ferries, the company which owns the Catamaran, said that the threat could have caused extensive damage and passengers’ life was threatened.

It warned Mr Sant that failure to pay damages would lead the company to initiate legal proceedings against him.
