World-renowned violinist Charlie Siem will return to the Manoel for a one-off recital next Monday, with Maltese pianist Julian Dyson accompanying him.

Mr Siem is one of the world’s most renowned classical violinists, with his talents being praised by classical musicians as well as less likely sources such as Buzzfeed.

He last played at the Manoel in October 2014 with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

Trained at Eton and Cambridge, he also studied with Itzhak Rashkovsky at the Royal College of Music and has spent the past 12 years being mentored by Shlomo Mintz.

He has appeared with many of the world’s finest orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and has has worked with conductors such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Yuri Simonov, Sir Roger Norrington, Edward Gardner, and Libor Pesěk.

Accompanying him will be Mr Dyson, a pianist with experience playing at several London venues including the Barbican, the Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall and the Houses of Parliament.

He is a recipient of a Scholarship to the Yehudi Menuhin School and another to the Royal College of Music.

Monday’s programme includes a recital of Beethoven’s Kreutzer-sonata, Grieg’s Violin sonata No. 3 in C minor and Ole Bull’s Cantabile doloros e Rondo giocoso. There will be a pre-recital talk at 7.15pm for ticket holders.
