Malta Enterprise is organising a trade mission to Vienna between January 27 and 29, when business-to-business meetings for participants will be arranged.

The Austrian Chamber of Commerce, the Embassy of Malta in Austria and the Austrian Embassy in Malta will be assisting Malta Enterprise with this event. The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, the GRTU, and Finance Malta have also pledged their support to the trip.

The delegation's visit to Austria aims to create further awareness about Malta's business opportunities and generate contacts for trading, technology transfer, joint ventures and inward investment.

This market offers unique opportunities for business cooperation in imports and exports, technology transfer and foreign direct investment.

The sectors which offer the best prospects for joint collaboration include mechanical precision engineering, renewable sources of energy, ICT, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, research and development operations, knowledge-based services, education and training, financial services, aviation services, travel and tourism, and food and beverages.

Trade exchanges between the two countries reached a turnover of around €26 million in 2008, with exports reaching €6.5 million consisting mainly of pharmaceuticals, electrical machinery and equipment, printed matter and other industrial and consumer services. Tourist arrivals from Austria reached 20,000 in 2008.
