The number of passengers handled by Vienna International Airport rose by 6.7 per cent year-on-year to 1,282,574 last month. Increases were also recorded in flight movements with +0.7 per cent, maximum take-off weight with +12.8 per cent and cargo with +0,6 per cent. Transfers through Vienna were 4.6 per cent higher than in January of the previous year.

Passenger traffic to destinations in Eastern Europe and Western Europe rose by 9.9 per cent and 5.6 per cent, respectively, over Jan-uary 2010. The number of passengers travelling to the Middle East was 7.9 per cent higher in January 2011.

For 2011 Flughafen Wien AG is expecting an increase of five per cent in passengers, three per cent in maximum take-off weight and two per cent in flight movements.
