An audio information panel (AIP) has been inaugurated at Independence Square in Victoria.

Victoria mayor Robert Tabone explained that the panel, the first of its kind in Gozo, is an important medium highlighting Victoria's heritage trail.

Roderick Spiteri, director of provider I-Squared, said the information panel is among the first in a series of AIP projects in Malta and Gozo.

The panel features over 30 sites within the citadel and the centre of Victoria in three languages - English, Italian and German.

The AIP contains a detailed city map, high quality audio clips in up to nine languages, and an LED system which helps users to find their way through the city.

An AIP has also the ability to suggest a tour around the city.
