Viacom has announced a new deal with the Malta Tourism Authority for three further Isle of MTV concerts in Malta.

The announcement was made at London's World Travel Market in the presence of Tourism Minister Mario de Marco.

The Isle of MTV is the most popular free concert in Europe, attracting some 50,000 people every year.

Next year's extravaganza has been confirmed for June 26, 2013

Since Isle of MTV started being held in Malta, the number of visitors to the island, younger than 24, has increased by 88 percent and now accounts for 20.3 percent of all tourists.

"Isle of MTV is considered one of the coolest and most eclectic free European summer music events and has built a reputation for showcasing some of the biggest names from the international music scene. Previous performers have included Will.i.am, Flo Rida, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, The Black Eyes Peas, LMFAO, David Guetta, Gorillaz, and Garbage," Viacom said.

The open-air concert is filmed and edited into a 60-minute special that is broadcast across 20 MTV channels throughout Europe.

Dr de Marco said, "We are proud to host the next three editions of the Isle of MTV concert which has been labelled internationally as the largest free open air music concert in Europe. The concert, through its international promotion and line-up is succeeding in attracting more foreigners to our islands, especially young people which have increased significantly since 2007. The Malta Music Week which is organised prior to the Isle of MTV concert is also being established as a popular music event in the Mediterranean. Malta has successfully hosted these music events for the past six years and we look forward to once again welcome to our islands music and concert lovers from all over Europe."

Antonio Canto, Senior Vice President, Be Viacom, added, "We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Mediterranean islands of Malta. Isle of MTV's popularity amongst young Europeans keeps growing and the broadcast show is now also a well-established, highly anticipated episode of our World Stage franchise. Renewing our partnership for another three years gives us the opportunity to jointly evolve the Isle of MTV franchise and attract even more young travellers to Malta."

The talent line-up and further details for Isle of MTV 2013 will be announced in the spring.
