Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel comfortably won the Belgian grand prix today to extend his championship lead to 46 points over Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.

Vettel overtook pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton in the first lap and never surrendered his lead.

Alonso finished today's race in second, having started in ninth.

Lewis Hamilton came in third for Mercedes, some 30 seconds behind Vettel. Mercedes team-mate Rosberg was fourth with Red Bull's Mark Webber a close fifth.

McLaren's Jenson Button was sixth after a late pit stop.

Kimi Raikkonen retired with a brake problem, ending a run of 27 successive races in the points

The weather stayed dry throughout.
