Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said in Parliament yesterday that the VAT Department still owed €31,760,804.44 in refunds following the necessary verifications.

Mr Fenech was answering a question by Justyne Caruana (PL).

The total amount quoted could be broken down into €30,814,102.08 to registered persons with addresses in Malta and €946,702.36 to persons with addresses in Gozo.

Mr Fenech added that such refunds became due five months from the date of request.
