The Gozo Billiards and Snooker Club concluded its season last Friday with a ceremony at the Leone Band Club, Victoria.

The highlight of the day was the Premier Division final between Jason Vassallo and Simon Vella.

Charles Camilleri, from the Malta Billiards and Snooker Association, was the referee for the final. Vassallo clinched the championship for the third year running after beating Vella 6-2.

The final of the billiards championship was played between Emanuel Grech and Vassallo, the 2007 finalists. Grech failed to defend the title, losing 600-448 to Vassallo who thus completed the double.

The trophies were presented by Mario Apap, the president of the Gozo Snooker Club, and Charles Azzopardi who sponsored the billiards trophies.

On Saturday, the Gozo Snooker Club will hold a one-day tournament against Anglo-Maltese, of Valletta, at the Leone Band Club.
