Benches set up at scenic Is-Salib tal-Gholja by the Malta Tourism Authority were vandalised within a few days.

The authority said the benches were set up on Friday and were found to have been vandalised this morning.

It condemned the vandalism and said the benches are being repaired. It also appealed to anyone having information about the vandals to come forward.

The installation of the benches was part of the EU-funded project 'Malta goes rural - Sustaining Rural Tourism in Malta,' which is partly co-financed through the European Agricultural Funds for Rural Development.

Meanwhile Is-Salib tal-gholja will be lit up with fjakkoli on Maundy Thursday. Transport will be available from Siggiewi Square to a vantage point near the hill.
