The top part of St Paul Street in Valletta has been closed for a fortnight to enable completion of the lava paving works at Castille Square.

Traffic into the centre of Valletta is being diverted through Merchants' Street.

The project started in the Spring and has seen the removal of trees, the laying of some 10,000 metres of piping for underground services, and paving. The paving works are due to be completed next month.

The project will then be rounded off with the installation of monuments, lighting, bollards, street furniture and a fountain opposite the entrance of the Auberge de Castille.
