Valletta midfielder Roderick Briffa has been suspended for one league match for making a derogatory gesture last weekend’s 1- 1 draw against Birkirkara.

Briffa, who scored a stoppage-time equaliser for the champions in their clash with rivals Birkirkara last Sunday, reportedly made the gesture at the start of the second half.

The one-match ban means that Briffa will have to miss Valletta’s first match of the third round against bottom side Zebbug Rangers on February 21.

This evening, Valletta, the FA Trophy holders, meet Mosta in the first quarter-final of this season’s Knock-Out competition.
