Valletta this morning announced a sponsorship deal with French Energy drink Hexis, which will sponsor Valletta for each game in European competitions.

The sponsorship came into effect last Tuesday when Valletta beat the San Marino team Tre Fiori 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League first qualifying round tie.

President Victor Sciriha expressed his satisfaction at this agreement, which he described as a vote of confidence by an overseas company in the work of his club.

He wished to extend the deal beyond their involvement in this season's European competitions.

He also revealed that Valletta are in talks with several other companies which are also interested in sponsoring the club.

He reiterated the club's ambition to continue to strengthen the squad adding that they were in negotiations to sign a Maltese player, who he stopped short of name.

However, speculation has been rife for the past few months that Valletta are still pushing to agree a deal with Malta striker Michael Mifsud.

Valletta have virtually qualified for the next round of the Champions' League after establishing a 3-0 nil advantage in the game against San Marino.

Assuming that Valletta advance to the next round, they will meet Lithuanian side Ekranas and Sciriha is confident that his side will also stand a very big chance of progressing to the third round.
