Valletta Road, the road connecting Żurrieq to the rest of the island, should soon start getting a much-needed reconstruction in the coming weeks after years of frustration suffered by motorists.

After a false alarm in 2003, where a billboard advertising its renovation under the Italian protocol was put up, only to be removed shortly afterwards, the Malta Transport Authority last month advertised it would start works on the road on December 28. Sources said works on the alternate routes would start today, with work on the main road scheduled to get under way in a matter of weeks.
