I have every ounce of respect for your customer affairs columnist Adrian Muscat Inglott. If he would like to embark on a personal crusade against the Valletta residential parking scheme, he has every right to do so. After all, we live in a free country.

However, it is unfair on Mr Muscat Inglott's part to give the impression to readers that the Valletta residential parking scheme is the same as any other in Malta and Gozo.

Mr Muscat Inglott knows perfectly well that the capital's scheme was set up by the ministry in conjunction with the Malta Transport Authority (ADT), not by the local council. I am also sure that Mr Muscat Inglott knows that all traffic signs have the power of law if certified by a competent authority. In our case, our signs were all installed by the ADT, thus they are there by law.

I trust he will take the necessary action to clarify this misconception.
