Valletta 6, Tarxien Rainbows 2

Premier league leaders Valletta hammered Tarxien Rainbows this afternoon, although the Rainbows did manage a good start by equalising twice in an entertaining opening period.

It was goals galore in the first half with Cruijff opening the score after just three minutes when he rose above everyone to head home. But his goal was equalled by Andrew Decesare after 11 minutes. The half-time score was 3-2 to Valletta as the both teams scored and conceded identical goals.

Terence Scerri controlled the ball beautifully and sent a cute lob over the stranded Curmi on 31 minutes. But Decesare gently chip the ball over the Valletta keeper, six minutes later.

Then Cruijff scored two goals from the spot-kick, first at the end of the first half and then at the beginning of the second half.

Tarxien put up a good fight but in the end the mighty Valletta put through another late goals courtesy of substitute Declan O’Brien.

The result means Valletta join Birkirkara at the top of the Premier League.
