The Valletta council has condemned its councillor Raymond Azzopardi for posting a picture of the Nationalist Party's coat of arms on his Facebook page replacing PN with ISIS and writing "we should be afraid of these people".

In a statement this morning, the council said such comments should never be accepted. It disassociated itself from what the councillor did and made it clear it did not agree with him.

It also said that in view of the recent attacks, the post was insensitive and hurtful to other councillors who formed part of the PN. It was an insult and disrespectful to the representative majority of Valletta residents in the council.
