A Syrian with psychiatric problems who lives in a disused showroom in Msida was  accused in court today of threatening and chasing a 12-year-old girl.

The dishevelled 43-year-old man allegedly chased the girl on Saturday.

Police Inspector Saviour Baldacchino said he ran after her for a considerable distance before he stopped.

The man pleaded not guilty to threatening the girl, violently resisting arrest, living as a vagabond, failing to look for employment and failing to give his particulars to the police.

No request for bail was made.
