A man has been arrested after a police search yielded nearly seven kilos of cannabis resin hidden in a field in Marsascala.

Informed sources said the drug was in 27 blocks of about 250g each.

The search started at about 9 p.m. yesterday and continued throughout the night covering a large field between Zejtun and St Thomas Bay. Some of the blocks were hidden in manure.

The search followed days of observation by police officers.

A 35 year old man from Zejtun was caught red-handed on the site.He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow.
