A man found dead in Triq id-Durumblat, Mosta, this morning is thought to have been hit by a car which kept on going, informed sources said.

The police are questioning a number of people to establish the identity of the man and the circumstances behind his death. A man who was the driver of the car is under arrest.

The dead man was aged 59 and a resident of Mosta. He was found alongside a rubble wall bordering the street. The man had a serious head wound, An autopsy will be held tomorrow.

The accident happened at around 7 a.m.

Eyewitnesses said the police low loader truck was seen carrying a Daihatsu car from Mosta early in the afternoon. The car had extensive damage.

A magisterial inquiry is being held.
