Police in Canada have arrested a man after a small town in Ontario was put into lockdown following reports of a shooting.

Officers later said they arrested a 57-year-old suspect in Ottawa, about 111 miles away.

Ontario Provincial Police officers were called to a location in Wilno and found one person dead.

Their investigation took them to a home some distance away, triggering a search for the suspect which led to several businesses and schools being placed on lockdown.

All lockdowns were lifted after the suspect was taken into custody.
