The jury session of the Junior Eurovision, which is also a full blown dress rehearsal, faced an unexpected glitch this evening when power was lost for around 20 minutes as the second contestant was singing her song at around 7.15pm.

The singer initially continued to sing but had to stop shortly after.

Electricity returned at 7.35pm but the show only continued at 8.20pm.

Power for the contest was not being provided by Enemalta, a spokesman for the company said.

The contest is being held at the Malta Shipbuilding in Marsa which has undergone a major facelift and was transformed into an industrial chic arena.

Federica Falzon, 11, is representing Malta with her song Diamonds.

The contest is tomorrow.
