The heavy sewage flood that saw Balzan drowned in untreated waste last Friday returned this afternoon, after hours of rain saw litres of filth overflow from subterranean pipes.
Residents who spoke to Times of Malta are claiming several manholes have overturned in the Balzan end of Valley Road as well as connected streets.
They said that the repair of the source of last week's problem led to pressure being placed on a number of other sources which were overflowing today.
Last week the main road was filled with inches of excrement, toilet paper, and even tampons after road works related to the National Flood Relief Project, saw a backlog of sewage gush down the street.
The problem today was not as extensive as last Friday's because the sewage mass today was diluted with rain water while last week it was purely sewage.
Cars, house facades and even pedestrians were sprayed with the dark liquid as road maintenance workers tried frantically to clean away the mess.
Two Water Services Corporation bowsers are currently pumping out the sewage and cleaning the area. The WSC was contacted about the problem by the Balzan council.
