Three people were injured in a fight in and outside Cospicua police station this afternoon.

The police said that the fight, at around 1pm, was between two families and followed an argument which started yesterday.

Today's fight started near the parish church but the people involved and other members of their families ended up at the station, which is a few metres away.

Some 30 people were involved and the district police had to call in reinforcements from the Rapid Intervention Unit.

Three men were injured including a 44-year-old man from Senglea whose condition was grievous.

A large number of people ended up at the station and five were arrested.
