Having performed in Malta a few times already, Steve Young and Owen Stephen should really need no introduction, but for the benefit of anyone who may have missed their previous gigs, here’s a quick run-through anyway.

Both musicians form part of Darren Hayes’ band and have toured extensively with the former Savage Garden artist.

When they’re not accompanying Hayes, they both have pretty busy musical schedules of their own to attend to.

Young is a popular session musician and is also involved in songwriting with various collaborators. The list of artists he has written for includes JLS, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Tom Jones, S Club 7, Kylie Minogue and Sugababes.

He is currently working with Stephen and with writer and producer Tom Nichol (who wrote the song Black Coffee, which gave All Saints a Number1 UK hit in 2000), on material for a newly-signed artist that we should all be hearing about in the near future.

Stephen is a session bass player with over 10 years experience of live and studio work, known for his versatility.

He is also a member of upcoming UK band The October Game, who recently released their second album, Wildblood, on Carmandie Records.

More recently, he has been playing bass with Lizzy Pattinson, who is currently recording a new EP after some great performances at a number of major UK festivals.

In his spare time, Stephen teaches budding musicians of all ages at the Playsomething music academy in Hertfordshire, Europe’s second largest independent music school.

On top of this, Stephen also plays in three-piece rock band, The 3 Madonnas, which caters for special functions.

Young and Stephen will be performing two gigs in Malta this week.

The first will take place from 8 p.m. onwards this Thursday at Rookies in Buġibba, while the second will be held on Friday, where the two musicians will perform from 10 p.m. onwards as part of Q Bar’s Smirnoff Experience at the Valletta Waterfront.

Young and Stephen are being brought to Malta exclusively by The Artistic Dream, a project recently been founded by music management graduate Alison Camilleri with the aim of providing musical opportunities and exchanges for Maltese and foreign artists.

Camilleri is also a management and creative consultant for the locally-based Aiming 4 Fame music academy.
