A Biotechnology for Health Unit is to be set up at University with the help of funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Cohesion Policy Programme 2007-2013.

It will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies in cellular and molecular biology.

The project will improve Malta's potential for education, training, research and development in this high priority area. It will enable high-level research in health and medical biotechnology, in particular in genetics, proteomics, and pharmaco-genetics, as well as in agriculture, biology, environment, and bio-informatics.
