New brands and business lines of the companies of the University of Malta were launched this morning during a press conference held at the Old University Building in Valletta.

University Group of Companies CEO Josef N Grech explained that a new commercial identity has been created for the group which revolved around the brand of the Old University Building, consolidating the commercial arm of University under one roof.

He said that the purpose of the group was to broker the intellectual assets and resources of the University within the business environment, serve as a commercial interface and add value through commercial activity.

University of Malta rector Juanito Camilleri said: “What we’re saying to the world is that we’re ready to do business in a different way.”

Mr Grech went on to explain that the corporate brands, will incorporate the university logo in a round form representing a clear link to the University of Malta thereby also leveraging the strength of the University of Malta brand in the group’s commercial activities.

The new brands and business lines include the Malta University Holdings Company Limited, of which the University of Malta is a shareholder, which serves to provide strategic direction and corporate support to existing and emerging business lines.

The holding company holds within it a number of business lines each with their own commercial activity which include: Malta University Consulting Limited, Malta University Technical Services, the International School of Languages, Malta University Residence, and Malta University Broadcasting (Campus FM).

Within this commercial array lies also the Foundation for International Studies with its newly found role to manage the facilities of the Old University Building.
