The public is being offered an opportunity by the university to attend lectures offered by various faculties, institutes and centres.

This is being done as part of the university’s strategy of contributing to general cultural education and widening public awareness of its services.

Individuals registered within this scheme would not be registered as students on any of the university’s course of studies.

The scheme is targeted towards members of the public who have an interest in following the lectures offered, with the aim of increasing their knowledge.

The list of lectures starting in February 2010 includes topics such as far eastern religions and philosophy, structure and change in Malta's economic history, theories of literature, human anatomy and basic concepts of biomechanics, child law, historical and social aspects of ICT, thermodynamics and kinetic theory.

A list of lectures available through this scheme can be found at www.um.edu.mt/registrar/students/publiclectures.

Attendance is free of charge. Participants will not be assessed and no certification will be issued.

A limited number of places is available and registration will be on a first come first served basis. Registration for lectures can be done online at www.um.edu.mt/publiclecturesregistration .

Registration deadline is January 18.
