A Master degree course in traditional Chinese medicine and culture aimed at doctors and health care professionals is envisaged to start at the university in October next year.

A high level delegation from the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, led by President Jiangjan Xu met Health Parliamentary Secretary Chris Fearne and University Rector Juanito Camilleri to discuss the launch, an agreement on which was reached last year.

Professors Alfred Vella, Joseph Cacciottolo and Charles Savona Ventura are working in conjunction with the Chinese university to develop the curriculum and draw up the academic programme.

China had also agreed to recognise degrees given by the University of Malta during a visit by Education Minister Evarist Bartolo when he promoted the teaching of Maltese language and Culture. 30 Chinese students have registered for this course.
