The vouchers that Fiona Sammut referred to (The Sunday Times, March 23) are branded vouchers that are sold, marketed and distributed by The Gift Voucher Shop through all Maltapost and Fexco branches under the name of the One4all Gift Vouchers.

One can purchase a very wide variety of products and services with these gift vouchers that are redeemable in over 300 outlets.

Within the ambit of the NECC guidelines, gift vouchers fall within the definition of stored value documents and irrespective of whether denominated in lira only or dual currency displayed, such vouchers may be used indefinitely until their effective expiry.

Our One4all gift vouchers are stored value documents and any of our lira-denominated gift vouchers in circulation are eligible to be used any time until their expiry which is effectively 18 months from issue.

The Gift Voucher Shop sought and was given a justified concession from the NECC to be able to sell euro-denominated one4all gift vouchers from December 1, 2007, and this with foresight, given that the vast majority of the gift vouchers sold during December would actually be redeemed post-euro changeover. The option to buy euro-denominated or lira-denominated vouchers was entirely and solely left to the discretion of the purchasing customer.

The customer helpline for one4all gift vouchers is 2576 5000 or 2133 3801 as indicated on the back of each voucher.

Following Ms Sammut's letter, we immediately addressed the matter by contacting the management of Chaucers' Bookshop to resolve this misunderstanding. The management did confirm that there were instances when they did not accept some gift vouchers as the vouchers were not dual displayed in both Lm and euro. We would like also to publicly apologise to Ms Sammut for any inconvenience caused.

The Gift Voucher Shop has circulated a memo to all its participating outlets and service providers to remind them of their obligations when accepting one4all gift vouchers.
