Registered unemployment in October 2007 decreased by 512 when compared to the same month last year to reach 6,659 .
The NSO said that in Malta, the registered unemployed amounted to 5,986 persons, with another 673 in Gozo.
In the twelve months to October 2007, both islands experienced a decline in unemployment (-500 in Malta and -12 in Gozo). Unemployment fell across all age groups except those aged over 45 which increased by 108.
Among men, occupations related to elementary duties and plant and machine operations were the most sought, whereas women tended to seek jobs which were clerical or service-oriented.
