The number of persons registering for work in January stood at 2,000, down by
by 30.8 per cent from January 2017, the NSO said on Thursday.
 
Unemployment dropped among all age groups except among persons below the age of 20, registering under Part II of the unemployment register.

The largest decrease in registrants was recorded among persons who had
been registering for less than 21 weeks.

The number of persons with a disability who were registering for work also dropped by 35 when compared to the previous year reaching 284. Men accounted for 78.2 per cent of total registrants with a disability.

The largest share of men and women on the unemployment register sought occupations as clerical support workers with 18.7 per cent and 35.8 per cent respectively.
