Roads near the airport terminal have been reopened after being blocked for more than 45 minutes because of a bomb alert.

The AFM said the alert was raised after a taxi was stopped on the slip road leading to the airport terminal and searched using sniffer dogs at about 2pm.

The dogs appeared to have detected something suspicious and the army's bomb squad was then called in.

The occupants- an Asian family going to the UK - and the taxi were searched, but nothing illegal was found.

The road block was set up after the recent terrorism attacks in Brussels.
