It was unacceptable that government ministers refused to give information about their travel, paid for from taxpayers’ money, the Nationalist Party said today.
The party was referring to a series of unanswered questions during yesterday’s parliamentary sitting.
The issue eventually led to a disagreement between Education Minister Evarist Bartolo and Gozo Minister Anton Refalo, with the former agreeing with the opposition that such answers should be answered.
There was, however, an embarrassing moment for Mr Bartolo himself when it resulted that a similar question to himself was also not being answered. He said the reply was prepared by an official and he would see to it that a proper reply was given.
The PN said the government's actions had no place in a free, democratic society. But what had taken place fitted in with the way the government was hiding its affairs, such as the agreements with Electrogas, the Chinese government and Henley and Partners.
The Labour promise of transparency was a joke, the PN said.
