Chelsea 3 Arsenal 5

John Terry and Chelsea's nightmare week was complete today as his slip and a Robin van Persie hat-trick handed Arsenal an amazing victory in an absolute classic at Stamford Bridge.

Terry looked set to enjoy some respite from the Football Association and police probes into allegations he racially abused QPR's Anton Ferdinand when he gave the Blues a 2-1 half-time lead.

But the Gunners staged a sensational second-half comeback to turn the game on its head and, though Juan Mata equalised at 3-3, Terry's mistake allowed Van Persie to make it 4-3 before the Dutchman completed his treble in stoppage time.

It handed the visitors their first Barclays Premier League away win since April and left Chelsea six points behind leaders Manchester City having played a game more.

That piled on the misery for the Blues, who have been under siege in the past week, which saw them hit by a humiliating defeat at QPR, three more red cards, the Terry racism storm, two - potentially three - Football Association fines and a supporter revolt over their stadium plans.

Fan reaction to Terry - who categorically denies racially abusing Ferdinand - was predictable on what his first public appearance since the allegations emerged.

There were cheers from the Chelsea faithful - whose posters included messages like 'JT is not racist' and 'Captain, Leader, Legend' - and jeers and abuse from the Arsenal contingent, who ridiculed him over his current travails.

But both sets of supporters were soon transfixed by a feast of attacking football.

Everton 0 Manchester United 1

Javier Hernandez grabbed the only goal as Manchester United started to put their derby mauling behind them with a laboured victory at Everton this afternoon.

The Mexican tapped in after 19 minutes to get the champions back on track in the Barclays Premier League after last week's 6-1 thrashing by Manchester City.

Yet it was a far from convincing performance by United and Everton twice went close to equalising as Leighton Baines hit the bar and David de Gea saved brilliantly from Jack Rodwell.

Everton also had plenty of possession in the closing stages of each half but lacked the cutting edge to truly worry the visitors.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had given Jonny Evans a vote of confidence following his sending off against City by restoring him in defence after suspension.

Evans took his place alongside Nemanja Vidic, himself sent off on Champions League duty recently, with Rio Ferdinand left on the bench.

Otherwise United's emphasis was on attack with Hernandez, Danny Welbeck and former Everton prodigy Wayne Rooney all starting.

Everton had problems with experienced pair Phil Neville and Tim Cahill ruled out, in-form Royston Drenthe suspended and defender Sylvain Distin unexpectedly missing from the teamsheet.

That meant Phil Jagielka, who had been doubtful due to a hairline toe fracture, was pressed back into service.

Manchester City 3 Wolves 1

Manchester City overcame Wolves at the Etihad Stadium despite having Vincent Kompany sent off to restore their five-point advantage at the top of the Barclays Premier League.

City went ahead early in the second half when Edin Dzeko converted the loose ball after Sergio Aguero had pounced on some hesitant play by the previously impressive Wayne Hennessey, and the Wanderers goalkeeper then palmed David Silva's shot into the path of Aleksandar Kolarov, who made it 2-0 in the 67th minute.

Stephen Hunt pulled back a goal from the penalty spot with 15 minutes remaining following Kompany's dismissal for bringing down Kevin Doyle, but substitute Adam Johnson wrapped up the victory for the hosts in stoppage time.

It means it is a case of as you were at the Premier League summit after second-placed Manchester United had cut the gap earlier in the day with their 1-0 win at Everton.

Struggling Wolves, meanwhile, are now winless in eight league fixtures.

Norwich 3 Blackburn 3

Norwich captain Grant Holt came off the bench to net a stoppage-time penalty as Blackburn were denied a much-needed win in an entertaining 3-3 draw at Carrow Road.

Barclays Premier League's bottom club Rovers, who beat Newcastle to reach the Carling Cup quarter-finals in midweek, took the lead on the stroke of half-time through Junior Hoilett.

Although Wales striker Steve Morison levelled with a well-taken strike on 53 minutes, two quick goals from Ayegbeni Yakubu and captain Christopher Samba looked to have secured a much-needed first away win for under-pressure Steve Kean.

However, the Canaries grabbed a lifeline with eight minutes left through Bradley Johnson's deflected effort.

Substitute Holt, whose scored in last week's battling 1-1 draw at Anfield, earned the never-say-die Canaries a point in stoppage time from the spot after Steven Nzonzi handled at the far post.

Sunderland 2 Aston Villa 2

Stephane Sessegnon snatched a point for Sunderland in a storming finish at the Stadium of Light which completely eclipsed the much-publicised return of Darren Bent.

Benin international Sessegnon stooped to nod home a Sebastian Larsson free-kick with one minute left after Richard Dunne had appeared to win it for Villa.

Dunne had risen highest to head the visitors back in front five minutes earlier after Connor Wickham had cancelled out Stilyan Petrov's stunning 20th-minute opener.

Bent, who was booed throughout on his first return to Wearside since his January move south, had missed a fine chance in the 70th minute when he shot straight at substitute keeper Kieran Westwood.

Swansea 3 Bolton 1

Swansea maintained their unbeaten Premier League home record as three second-half goals saw off 10-man Bolton at the Liberty Stadium.

The game was turned decisively in the hosts' favour early in the second half as Bolton had Ricardo Gardner sent off after collecting a second booking and Joe Allen gave Swansea the lead from the resulting free-kick.

Scott Sinclair got the second as he converted his third spot-kick of the season in the 57th minute after Darren Pratley, formerly of Swansea, had fouled Angel Rangel in the area.

Bolton were given a lifeline when Swansea conceded at home for the first time this term as Graham put through his own net, but the club record signing redeemed himself by slotting his fourth goal in four games in added time as Swansea claimed a vital three points ahead of upcoming fixtures against Liverpool and Manchester United.

Wigan 0 Fulham 2

Wigan suffered their eighth successive defeat to slump to the bottom of the Barclays Premier League table as goals from Clint Dempsey and Moussa Dembele earned Fulham a precious three points at the DW Stadium.

The Latics had more than enough chances to win the game but just could not find the net, with Gary Caldwell heading over in the first half and Victor Moses and Maynor Figueroa both hitting the woodwork in the second.

Fulham were much more clinical, Dempsey finishing off a break in the 41st minute to put them ahead before Dembele clinched a first away victory of the season four minutes from time.

West Brom 0 Liverpool 2

Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez showed more signs of forging a potent strike partnership as Liverpool strolled to victory over West Brom - and former Reds manager Roy Hodgson - at the Hawthorns.

A Charlie Adam penalty and Carroll's third goal of the campaign confirmed Liverpool's superiority as they climbed into fifth spot in the Barclays Premier League.

But it was the way that Carroll and Suarez gelled which would have given the most satisfaction to Reds boss Kenny Dalglish.

Carroll is starting to live up to his £35million price tag while Suarez gave his usual irresistible performance as the pair tormented the Baggies rearguard.

With Adam and Lucas Leiva running the show in the centre of the park and Daniel Agger impressive in defence, Liverpool had few problems in chalking up a third away league win of the campaign.

It ended the Baggies run of 11 points from the last six games but more accomplished sides will find it hard to deal with Carroll and Suarez in this form.
