British High Commissioner Vincent Fean was invited to address FOI Council members on Thursday.

The FOI president welcomed Mr Fean to the FOI offices and presented a brief outline of the role and functions of the FOI and of the Malta Business Bureau in Brussels.

Mr Fean, who was accompanied by the High Commission's senior commercial officer Martin bianco, touched on various areas of involvement of the High Commission, including its participation on EU promotion, its co-ordination of twinning projects and protocols for various ministries and the Malta Government; its initiatives in education and vocational training, and its assistance in the organisation of seminars.

Other topics discussed at this meeting were public-private partnerships; the promotion of foreign direct investment and the Malta Enterprise, as well as the possible assistance to industry in view of establishing UK distribution networks.

At this meeting, the FOI president was accompanied by vice-presidents Joseph Pace and Martin Galea, council members Helga Ellul, Gene Gretchen, Godwin Micallef, Joseph L. Pace and Joe Zammit Tabona, administration manager John B. Scicluna and executive Cecilia Vella.
