The Union Haddiema Maghqudin this evening called on the management of the Freeport not to waste time in granting it recognition after it obtained 52 per cent of the votes cast in an election.

Addressing workers this afternoon, UHM chief Josef Vella said that the General Workers Union had been the recognised union until last year but following this election, in which 533 of the 575 eligible voters cast their vote, the UHM obtained the absolute majority.

Mr Vella thanked the workers for their trust in his union and promised not to waste time and present them with a collective agreement within three months.
