The UHM has registered an industrial dispute with the civil service and warned that it may resort to industrial action. The dispute involves all grades of the general service.

The union said that it has for months been calling for a revision of the sectoral agreement for the workers in the general service including clerks, senior clerks, executive officers, assistant principals, principals and senior principals. Its own proposals were made in 2009 but the government has not submitted counter proposals yet.

As a result, the union said, these workers were not being treated like other public sector workers whose sectoral agreements were revised in 2001.

The union warned that it may take industrial action.
