The UHM said today that it will hold a meeting for Enemalta workers after several reports of workers having been transferred to other posts with inferior conditions and lower take-home pay.

The union said it was insisting that no workers should have their pay reduced, even if there was agreement with another union.

In Gozo, it said, four workers were told to vacate the place where they worked and to return their tags within 24 hours, without being told where they were being transferred to. It was only after their insistence that they learnt where they would work.

In the Enemalta health and safety division, workers were offered to go to the Occupational Health and Safety Authority, with inferior conditions.  Enemalta fire-fighters are in a similar situation.

The UHM said workers in the generation section are expected to be informed of new shifts next week, and their income would decrease as a result.

The meeting will be held on Thursday at 6.30p.m. at the UHM headquarters n Floriana.
