The UHM this afternoon suspended planned industrial action by ambulance drivers after a meeting with the Health Department and the Management and Personnel Office of the Office of the Prime Minister.

The union had earlier ordered the drivers to refuse to provide any services other than those requested by the hospital emergency department.

The directive was to come into force on Wednesday morning.

UHM officials said the directive had followed a protracted dispute over disorganisation in the administration of the ambulances garage.

The two sides agreed to hold a further meeting later this week.
