Adrienne Dickson's letter fails to convince me at all. All one gathers is that she took offence to John Carmel Navarro's letter (January 21) when he highlights the living fact that Tigné Point is indeed an unbelievably dramatic eyesore.
Ms Dickson claims that one of the many reasons she is moving to Tigné is the wonderful view of Valletta - if only the Valletta side could say the same of Tigné.
As much as I agree that design, like art, is subjective, and I too like to see cutting-edge architecture creatively harmonised with the classical old buildings alongside them, (which will become something of a cliché someday) that is certainly not the case with Tigné Point. It makes Valletta look like it was not even taken into account.
To hell with foreign investors if the entire structure is in such frighteningly bad taste, lacks genuine style and has such little concept to the point of almost looking like a communist block that appears as nothing more than a number of pigeon holes, especially on location of such, to say the least, major importance to our heritage. Ms Dickson should let us keep design, like art, subject to open criticism.
