Teams that take part in the Paris-Nice cycle race starting on Sunday will eventually be "worked out" of the International Cycling Union (UCI), UCI president Pat McQuaid said yesterday.

"The UCI has made it quite clear to the teams that they needed to be aware of the decision they make," McQuaid told Reuters in an interview.

"If they decide to go with (Paris-Nice organisers) ASO they have firmly taken the decision to be out of the UCI. We will work them out of the UCI."

The teams have voted, in a majority, to go ahead and take part in the race after the Court of Arbitration for Sport declined to rule in the matter.

"The CAS has rejected the request for provisional and conservatory measures filed by the International Professional Cycling Teams (IPCT), by seven professional teams and the Coureurs Professionnels associés (CPA)," CAS said in a statement.

"I'm still waiting for Sunday morning. If they voted in a majority, it means some have not voted for it and thus have been forced to break the UCI regulations," McQuaid told Reuters.
